Terms of Service
Last updated: February 22, 2026
Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using Annoto ("we", "us", or "our"), the changelog platform available at annoto.co. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Annoto.
You must be at least 16 years old to use Annoto. By using the service, you represent that you meet this requirement.
1. The Service
Annoto is a changelog and announcement platform that lets you publish updates to your users, embed a changelog widget on your website, and manage email subscribers. We offer both free and paid plans. Features available on each plan are described on our pricing page and may change over time.
2. Your Account
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password. Annoto cannot and will not be liable for any loss or damage resulting from your failure to keep your credentials secure.
You must provide accurate information when creating your account. You may not use another person's account without permission, and you may not create accounts for the purpose of abuse or circumventing restrictions.
3. Your Content
You retain ownership of all content you create and publish through Annoto — including changelog posts, announcements, and workspace settings. By posting content, you grant Annoto a limited license to store, display, and deliver that content as part of operating the service.
You are solely responsible for the content you publish. You warrant that your content:
- Does not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights
- Is not unlawful, defamatory, obscene, or harmful
- Does not contain malware, spam, or deceptive material
- Complies with all applicable laws and regulations
We reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms without notice.
4. Subscribers and Email
When you use Annoto to collect email subscribers and send them notifications, you are responsible for ensuring you have obtained proper consent from those subscribers in accordance with applicable law (including CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and similar regulations). You may not use Annoto to send unsolicited email, spam, or harassing messages. We reserve the right to suspend your account if we detect abuse of the email functionality.
5. Embed Widget
Annoto provides an embeddable JavaScript widget that connects your website to Annoto's infrastructure to display your changelog. The widget does not grant Annoto access to your website's data beyond what is necessary to display the changelog and track widget opens.
6. Paid Plans and Billing
Some features of Annoto are available on paid plans only. By subscribing to a paid plan, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis at the then-current rate for your plan. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date.
All payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your credit card details. You are responsible for any applicable taxes in your jurisdiction.
Refunds are issued at our discretion. If you cancel your paid plan, you retain access to paid features until the end of your current billing period.
7. Acceptable Use
You may not use Annoto to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
- Infringe on the intellectual property rights of others
- Transmit malware, viruses, or any other harmful code
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to Annoto's systems or other users' accounts
- Overburden or interfere with the performance of the service
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the service without our written consent
- Reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the service
8. Intellectual Property
Annoto and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by us and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on Annoto's interface, logo, or brand without our express written permission.
9. Copyright Infringement (DMCA)
We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe that content on Annoto infringes your copyright, please notify us at support@annoto.co with sufficient detail to identify the content and your rights. Repeat infringers will have their accounts terminated.
10. Termination
You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. Upon deletion, your content and subscriber data will be removed within 30 days.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we determine that you have violated these Terms or are using the service in a way that could harm Annoto or other users. Free accounts that have been inactive for more than 12 months may also be removed.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
Annoto is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Your use of the service is at your own risk.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Annoto shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
13. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Annoto and its team from and against any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. For material changes, we will notify registered users by email before the changes take effect. Continued use of Annoto after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
